The Rachel. The Monica. The Phoebe.
90’s and 2000’s icons are everything right now. But let’s be honest, when have they not been everything? I can’t remember a time where my friend group was trying to decide whether we were a Baby Spice or a Sporty Spice. A Sabrina or a Jenny. A Rachel or a Monica. We’re all chasing that girl next door look and we have the inspiration pictures to get you there. First you have to find out if you’re looking for short and layered like Monica or long and sleek like Phoebe.
The Rachel
If you’re chronically online like myself, you know that “The Rachel” is not the haircut that we all know and love (or hate). What once we a term to describe a short, layered and voluminous style. If you were born before 1995, I’m sure you are picturing the exact style in your mind. That has all changed. GenZ has reclaimed “The Rachel” for a long, face-framing cut Jennifer Aniston sported in the later seasons. In my opinion, this is the best work GenZ has done for the beauty community. This style is so versatile for most hairstyles and face shapes. Way to go GenZ!
The Monica
The Monica to us a medium length style with A LOT of layers, something close to the wolf cut today. This style is perfect for those of us with extremely thick hair with natural texture and movement. The layers create bounce and volume where you may have been missing it before with other hair cuts. Styling has never been easier, all you need is a good volume spray, a blowdryer and your old trusty round brush.
The Phoebe
Sleek. Straight. All one length. Aka “The Phoebe”. This is a timeless style that will never fade because of its effortless, chicness. The endless styles possible that comes with an all one length, sleek style is the whole appeal. Braids, loose waves, tucked away; you’re always going to look your best. Those of us with hair on the finer side benefit for this cut as well since it keeps all the weight at your ends, making it appear you have thicker, fuller hair.
