New Years Resolutions for your Mental Health
The count down begins to the end of the year and the start of something new. This year we wanted to focus our New Year’s resolutions on bettering ourselves mentally. Here are a few tips we are going to practice in the New Year to improve the health of our minds.
Look After Yourself
You have to look after yourself because it isn’t anyone else’s responsibility to do so. Start making yourself the priority but getting more sleep and moving your body with intent. When you start focus on moving your body for the goal of improving your mental health and to not change how you look, you start to enjoy the physically activity your participating in.
Get Outside
They are called the great outdoors for a reason. Sunshine and fresh air can do wonders for our mental health and I’m sure we all experienced how we can feel when that is taken away. Go for a walk or take your lunch outside, whatever you do this year make sure you make time for outside.
Find What Makes You Happy
It’s hard to be happy if we do not know what makes us happy. Start exploring what in your life gives you joy and what features cause you pain. Once you find those factors that cause you discomfort, remove them. It’s that simple. Only fill your life with joy and joy will follow you.
Only Kind Words From Now On
Stop being so hard on yourself. Everyday does not have to be all or nothing so if you slip up do not beat yourself up about it. How can you expect to be happy when you are constantly beating yourself up for every little mistake you make. Try to say something nice about yourself to yourself every single day and you’ll be surprised how quickly you will start believing it.
Put Your Phone Down
Take a break from social media. It would all do us some good to get our noses out of our phone and back into the real world. When we spend most of our free time on social media we start to compare our lives to stranger who only show the absolute best parts of their day. Step away and start romanticizing the moments happening right in front of your face.
