How to Keep Your New Year's Resolutions
The holiday and new year celebrations are behind us and it’s time to focus on what’s ahead. The new year is a great time to make new goals and we want to help you reach them! Remember, “A goal without a plan is just a wish.”, so follow these simple tips to map out your plan to keep your New Year’s Resolutions.
Build A Vision Board
Creating a vision board can be a lot of fun and a great reminder of what you plan to achieve over the next year. Get together with your friends over coffee or wine and put your goals on a board. You can use magazine clippings, real photographs and even get creative and draw out your some of your intentions. Hang it somewhere visible where you will see it everyday - your office, bedroom or bathroom - so you can stay focused on what you want to accomplish this year.
Use A Calendar App
Keep yourself organized and on-schedule with a helpful app. Fantastical 2 is a great calendar app that is easy to use and sets alerts to help you stay on schedule. If one of your resolutions is to be more organized, you may want to search the App Store a little further for some of the great productivity apps they offer as well - Trello, Dropbox, Basecamp and ScannerPro are a few we recommend.
Write It Down
Use a planner to keep yourself organized. This can be used in conjunction with your digital calendar and productivity tools. Sometimes physically writing things down can help us to better remember and stay focused on the tasks at hand. There are so many great planners out there that are well-made to help you reach your goals. Erin Condren is famous for hers that include inspirational quotes, stickers and add-ons to customize to your needs.
Don’t try to accomplish everything at once. Choose one short-term goal at a time and focus on following through. If you have long-term goals for the year, be sure to start on those as well, but don’t lose focus on the short-term goals in the mean time. Do one thing every single day that will help you reach your goals.
Don’t Do It Alone
Buddy Up! Talk to your friends and family about your goals and resolutions so they can hold you accountable and cheer you on. They probably made some for themselves as well, so you can return the favor.
Don’t Beat Yourself Up
If you are struggling to achieve your goals, that’s ok! Don’t put too much pressure on yourself and remember that change of any kind takes time. Don’t give up and keep pushing through the tough times - it will be well worth it in the end!
